Although I think the president's service record is spotty at best, and criminal at worst, I do want to point out that the graphic gives an illusion that more time was spent "missing" than at service.
However, it may not be so clear on first inspection that the X-axis is not uniformly to scale; that is, the first 4 years occupy the same amount of time that the next 1 year does. In fact, the questionable service records span two years where the entire chart spans over 6.
My feeling is it was obviously designed as such to exaggerate the years of missing service when it really needs no exaggeration at all.

I agree with aaron - this chart's scale is very whacked out.
